An IQ test is a “social nightmare”? I’ve got a REAL social nightmare for you Eric. Ignoring Third World inbreeding, importing millions into Europe, resulting in terrorism, the destruction of the welfare state, and potential Civil War. All from rejecting empirical IQ data.https://twitter.com/EricRWeinstein/status/987833935185952768 …

The reason I detest IQ as our measure of intelligence is that it is pretty good. It would be far better if it was either absolutely amazing or obviously wrong. We can’t afford pretty good. A pretty good metric for cognition which some say is great can be a true social nightmare.

I expected Stefan (who I do not know) to answer this question in the thread he started, and he instead evades my request for clarification by starting a new thread. Not promising, given that he started the request for a confrontation between our positions.

Still haven't seen someone with a <80 IQ become a self-made success, because "IQ got it wrong". IQ is the best predictor of success that we have, and until it is replaced by something more accurate, it will be the standard.

EQ is far better predictor of success than IQ (among individuals with high enough IQ to do something with it). 1/2

Of course conscientiousness and other EQ traits are important as well - I agree with you. But EQ is far less deterministic than IQ. EQ generally increases as people mature, and it can be improved through concerted efforts in a way that IQ cannot.

I'm in agreement with you. Higher intelligence is no guarantee for success in life, it is too narrow a concept to fully encompass wide range of human abilities and knowledge. IQ is still recognise as an important element for success, esp. academic achievement. (1/n)
