I would think culture is the bigger factor than IQ. Even if you’re smart it’s hard to succeed without a support system and super high standards. Something those groups mentioned excel at.

A diverse society needs a balanced level of both high IQ citizens and low IQ citizens to function optimally. In Japan many high IQ people have to settle for jobs that they are over qualified for and hence the high level of discontent and frustration. +
