In everything, the injured tend to be about double the dead, right? So 25% chance of death, 50% chance of being wounded (don't bother with mental trauma, known them as cowardice) I don't think either position is desirable. But I see the allure of living in one's knees...

2 of my ancestors where severely wounded in the civil war. One took 3 bullets!!!?! One had his horse shot out from him and the injures from the fall ended up killing him a few years later. Good thing I've been saddled with forced white guilt by a grateful country.
