I got my kids names tattooed on me with the phrase “my heart & soul, my love, my life.” Because that is what my kids are to me.

Had a friend who grew up in the late 60’s, whose mom had left he and his sisters to be raised by their eventually single dad when they were all under 6. He was so woke he would talk about how he understood she was stifled as a mom.

I agree, that's horrifying. I had the opposite - a mother who frequently told us, "You know, you don't have to ever move out. You can just stay, you know." My sisters and I WERE, and still are, my mom's life.
