Economies are too complex to manage by any entity or computer. Socialism and Communism do not work because of this, and also because of invalid incentive structure. People don't work for others, for the "general good" or any other nebulous ideal, they work for themselves.

Venezuela, however, doesn't work because all it's oil sales have been embargoed by the OPEC, the Bolivar oil consortium, and has only last year started flowing to China.

That's entirely what it reduces to. Their world view is premised on every human being equal in ability, thus any differences in outcome must be caused by social or systemic injustices / prejudices. It's entirely wrong, but that's where they come from.

Absolutely. The simplest demonstration if anyone says we are equal is to ask them if they're intellectually equal to Isaac Newton. Or Nikola Tesla, who may be the most potent genius to have ever lived. Of course we aren't all equal. Not even close. Wrench into ideology.
