Tribes, as in -prehistoric- tribes, were far more egalitarian than many later eras. Partly because women gathered more calories (while expending less) than men could hunt.

-
Later, in farming societies - women still worked; they just happened to effectively be serf of their husbands, who controlled the “earnings” - this (simplified) carried over into early industrial eras.
-
Note that women have been “allowed” to work at unskilled type labor - while education was reserved for men. It is these higher professions that women also could have held, if not forced into subjugation and pregnancy, and given equal opportunity: as modern society shows.

The "discrimination, disenfranchisement, and oppression" have created this: On avg., U.S. women outlive men, have better health, save more for retirement, have less debt, & own most of U.S. personal wealth. See:

I think there are people who do work against their best interests out of their own insecurities. These people assume everyone is like them. I actually see this stuff in churches all the time. Insecure men who don't understand scripture relegate women to the church nursery only.

Tocqueville said that Americans had nearly achieved equality of the sexes, but that if women attempted to fill the same role as men it could only lead to “weak men and disorderly women.”

The US became the preeminent world power right after suffrage and women entered the workforce ... it’s not necessarily good or bad but doubling the labor force during war time was a key advantage for the US in manufacturing equipment...jury is still out family breakdown though
-
BTW, I’m not convinced universal suffrage is a good thing... jury is still out (the concept is less than 100 years old)...

Yes, tribes have pretty much done just that friend. And an intelligentsia like you would surely realize there are many more factors to a strong nation than a health or inclusive workforce.

Why waste your breath, Stefan? You know they're immune to logic. Anyone ever actually talked themselves out of evil? Do you think maybe that's why people adopt spiritual practices: because you can't think yourself out of the influence of evil? Philosophy's a nice hobby, but...

Nyet. Past and present economic success has been determined by aggression, gaining economic productivity cheaply by repressing other tribes or even women. Our gullags are good examples. You know not how power works.pic.twitter.com/eWUR2LJLWc

I don't think most people on the left appreciate how expensive prejudice is.
