“Coyotes” payoff guards, small groups at a time. Some by water east/west. Been there, seen it. Even if you’re legitimate with papers and purpose, you either bribe or wait long to cross.

Typically during staged confusion of guards changing shifts, money is left to be split. The more important the crossing, the higher the bribe. I saw a Canadian doctor on mission work bringing med supplies north...there days, crying.
