There was nothing better than getting off the bus and coming into my house where my mom was waiting for me with hugs and usually fresh cookies. She is amazing. And she was always happy to see us.

It was idyllic for some of us. Birthday parties in the backyard, days at the beach, homemade cookies....

My mother used to throw the most amazing birthday parties and she would make all the games like fishing behind her cutting board for prizes! And relay races with silly costumes and hollow eggs with glitter to crack on heads. It was wonderful

Strangely alot of your 1950s Mothers could afford to stay at home. They didnt shop foolishly. They lived on necessities and wholesomeness. They cooked the family meal, meat was put on the table usually on Sunday. Canning was done to preserve through ruff spots. And they loved it.

And the government took less of their income away

There was suppression of women. Also, women were unhappy in cases like domestic abuse, verbal, emotional. And there prob was a lot of it because even today the amount of it it sky high even though women have more freedom than ever.
