Well people do tend to have more kids in poorer times.

True. I think the point is that people have managed to raise kids in worse circumstances, and therefore it's possible to do the same in better circumstances. The only thing that has changed is our outlook/expectations.
-
Because won’t remember how much money we had or how much we struggled as much as they will remember the childhood joy and happy memories, sometimes the greatest parents show themselves when they are truly beat down and forced to make it work.

I don’t remember because my mother found every creative way in the book to make my childhood magical. I don’t remember being too poor for a store costume on Halloween. I only remember my mother on her sewing machine making me one from scratch and being her constant companion.pic.twitter.com/AEmbdKri4O

My husband is in the Navy and we have four kids. I gladly stayed home to raise our children. Was it easy,No, but it was the best thing in the world.

Multi generational living should become a trend again. It's cheaper & more sustainable which would allow for the reproduction rate necessary to sustain our society. This is one of the things I respect about the Chinese.
-
Both of my parents were dead before I was 25. Everyone's circumstances are not the same.
-
You had 7+ years, and I'm certain that unless you lived in an extremely rare situation you had more family than just mother & father. Exceptions do not change the rule. I find it very difficult to believe that your circumstance represents a majority of the population.
-
I started with nothing, homeless, no family, just a small bag of clothes. I made excuses at first, but then I realized rather quickly that was a waste of time; and that's when I started moving up.
-
Who's making excuses? My home is fully paid for and I've taken care of myself since i was 18.

Rich people don’t have kids either. It’s 100% cultural, 0% economical. If fertility was high status, society and economics would change to support large families.
