In general don't debate people who prioritize YOUR views and YOUR opinion. They're looking to recruit members to their ideological gang. Better to talk with people prioritizing THEIR OWN understanding - people genuinely trying to learn.

Part of the issue is that many people project complex problems as binary is problems. Science isn't binary So often in these “debates” neither side is wrong, they’re just ignoring half the information.
