Race is a social construct, i.e. people made it. When people make things, like buildings or laws or systems of social organization, then those things exist, until they are unmade. No contradiction between claims that people made racial categories and that these categories exist.

At one point people will wake & their past will be a dream they now fear they have lived, a horror best forgotten, but we must never forget where we left the history of landmines, how we were children living out "The Lord of the Flies" instead of living as adults.
