Everybody loves to quote Eisenhower’s warning about the military industrial complex but most don’t even know he made a similar warning about a “scientific-technological elite” in the same speech. And here we are.

Same with welfare... When you reward people who make bad choices with money taken from people who made good choices... You get more bad choices and less good oneshttps://twitter.com/StefanMolyneux/status/1072905238493847552?s=19 …

Wonder if they crowd funded global warming research how many of the 97% of scientists will have agreed on man made global warming?
-
Is there any incentive to put that claim to rest? The only way they would continue to receive funding is by perpetuating that narrative, true or otherwise. How would crowdfunding yield a different result?

It is also true that the government has advanced science more than any well-meaning private consortium.
-
...which is what Eisenhower warned us against.
-
Eisenhower warned us against science? Or did he warn us against misuse of science?
-
The prospect of domination of the nation's scholars by Federal employment, project allocations, and the power of money is ever present—and is gravely to be regarded. Yet, in holding scientific research and discovery in respect, as we should...
-
...we must also be alert to the equal and opposite danger that public policy could itself become the captive of a scientific-technological elite.
-
Without government, you have no rules. It's raw Darwinism. Science would become your enemy. There needs to be a collective mechanism to prevent out of control use of science. For example, Iran gets nuclear weapons. What comes next? You ready to become Muslim?

And so we have the climate change scam and the lie that 97% of today's "scientists" say it's so.
-
Ah yes big government science bullying the poor little fossil fuel industry.
-
He never mentioned the fossil fuel industry. All he's saying is that, because science is government funded, government is influencing the majority of scientists to yield results the government wants, which is why the "97% of scientists agree" argument is BS.
-
Alright but what on Earth makes you believe that governments want people to think that climate change is happening? Heres a list of American politicians who received gas and oil money this midterm election cyclehttps://www.opensecrets.org/industries/recips.php?ind=E01 …

We need a separation of science and state.
