A lot of smart people don’t like the genetic basis of intelligence because it punctures their vanity. If most of your intelligence is unearned – accidental genetics – then you can’t take as much pride in being smart. This is the root of noblesse oblige. Great gifts = service.

I don't see how any line would work with philosophical leftists. They like socialism not because of what it is, but because it appeals to their vanity.

You lean so heavily on genetics as a reason rather than reason itself because you were confronted with the consequences of atheist societies and you were appalled. Genetics is your last excuse against acknowledging either atheist relativism or God. It's God and you know it.
