A lot of smart people don’t like the genetic basis of intelligence because it punctures their vanity. If most of your intelligence is unearned – accidental genetics – then you can’t take as much pride in being smart. This is the root of noblesse oblige. Great gifts = service.

Books are to the brain what a Bowflex is to the body - Exercise equipment. A genetically-superior brain will atrophy if not exercised. A genetically-inferior brain can be improved with exercise. So. . . go ahead and take pride in being smart. . . either way, you worked for it.

IQ was debunked decades ago as a useless measure of intelligence. Which means they comparison of IQ is meaningless gibberish.

Bones weaken without exercise, can be strengthened with. Muscles weaken without exercise, can be strengthened with. Immune systems weaken without exercise, can be strengthened with. Brains float along on an even keel without exercise. Doesn't pass the smell test.
