A lot of smart people don’t like the genetic basis of intelligence because it punctures their vanity. If most of your intelligence is unearned – accidental genetics – then you can’t take as much pride in being smart. This is the root of noblesse oblige. Great gifts = service.

Books are to the brain what a Bowflex is to the body - Exercise equipment. A genetically-superior brain will atrophy if not exercised. A genetically-inferior brain can be improved with exercise. So. . . go ahead and take pride in being smart. . . either way, you worked for it.

I don't accept that I am required to do more than others simply because I am capable of doing so. I don't mind "service", but I want to get paid for it just like everyone else.

Who educated Leonardo da Vinci? He spent time as an apprentice in an artist's workshop. That's about it.

It would seem so. To say "artist's workshop" is a bit misleading though. He would have been taught some chemistry (at least as applies to pigments), and some rudimentary mechanics at least.

That's not the reason. People simply struggle to accept things that are predetermined and out of their control... It makes them uncomfortable

It’s a combination of both arrogance and discomfort. They want to believe that everything they have is entirely earned - have fear of “privileges” they might’ve been born with. And they love control.

You're right. But I think that the sense of discomfort from the lack of control is part of our nature while the feeling of guilt is culturally imposed. People didn't feel guilty for their privileges in the past, It is the modern culture that instills that

Uh, what? Genetics might allow you to absorb information, but your genetics do not arbitrarily determine how intelligent, sensible or perceptive you are. SOME people are savants. Most are not.

Do you come out of the womb acutely aware of how to separate bad decisions from good ones? Do you immediately and intuitively know your limits or how to do stuff? Again, some people do. I should know; I met one of them.

I'd love to comment on it, but that thing has far too many terms and concepts I'm unfamiliar with to fill in the blanks. And, frankly, I don't feel like giving myself a Wikipedia crash-course on the subject.
