I covered the 1991 riots in Paris suburbs as a student in journalism . It was really really bad . Probably much worse than this . The new thing here is that it happened in the center of Paris . I cannot believe president Macron let this happen . Can he recover from this ?

I believe most protesters were peaceful but scores of thugs and vandals always find a way to come and wreak havoc ...Tge left will say ultra-right, snd the right will say far-left ...Been going on for decades .
