I gladly exchange greater compensation for the invaluable time raising and teaching my 4 children. And I am eternally grateful for a husband who also values me home, investing in our children. My treasure is where my heart is.

Presumably @TheEconomist would prefer some Brave New World where children are born in test tubes and raised in baby farms. How about the 'death in life' tax, where mostly men have to fritter their life away doing jobs they hate, to pay for the family at home?

Wow... that never occurred to me.... My wife is a stay at home mom raising our 3 kids (wonderfully I might add) and does all our family shopping and gets a bigger personal allowance than I give myself... so technically who earns more money...

Biased analysis, having kids actually improves mom’s long term productivity and mental health.
