For those who are curious - the sentence on monument behind Stefan is - "Boy scouts & Girl Scouts 1939-1945" - in remembrance of polish kids who fought the Nazis during WWII, down below - the youngest insurgent of Warsaw uprising https://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Witold_Modelski …

Wow...... I'm fascinated by Poland's history and the spirit of it's remarkable people.

Try to read about Witold Pilecki, in conspiracy he was like intelligence and counterint. officer, he volunteered to go to Auschwitz, organized a resistance within the camp and managed to escape to alert about the horror it was..https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Witold_Pilecki …

Truly amazing. It's on my list now. Thank you!

It's not even about to interest you in our modern history. It's just there are so many peoples who's trying put blame on us (knowingly or by ignorance) that if only one person would stood up to them - it's worth to wrote some messages on TT.
-
Of course. The sacrifices, hardships and the struggle to return the country to it's people, is a lesson in patriotism we should all learn.
-
And we have to do it twice, first after partition of Poland in the end of XVIII ( persecution like - polish language was forbidden to use in schools, offices et caetera to get rid of our culture for 123 years of occupation ) and second when we was on the wrong side of Iron curtain
