well, in fairness there are some, but there are many reasons, including: people walk a whole lot more, the food until quite recently was not the processed crap we eat in the West, obesity is not seen as anything good (d'uh!) and fat shaming is kosher

Haven't switched to SAD (standard American diet) and good genetics.

Nutrition and ingested toxins can disrupt the expression of genes, I.e. epigenetics.

It used to be that way in Germany too before they allowed the import of GMO animal feed.
-
Wait. Warsaw doesn't allow GMO?
-
The answer has to lie somewhere in the use of GMOs. Of course, it is natural for the mainstream argument to be directed in some way that blames people & supports big industry. I study nutrition, always researching. I lived in Germany in the 90s, was there recenly, saw big change.

Germany also allowed for the import of the Internet. I lived in the United States before the Internet and people weren't nearly as heavy. Not even close.

I understand, but I have a Bachelor of Science in Integrative Health, so I am coming from a less speculative place. There is research to back this up, but as with the tobacco lobby decades ago, it gets deep-sixed by powerful industries so the public remains uninformed.

A link between the consumption of corn products and rising obesity trends that has not been previously attributed to the obesity epidemic. Correlation coincides with the introduction of bioengineered corns into the human food chain.https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3133759/ …

Interesting and thought provoking paper, Carolyne. I’ve always thought that the concerns abt GMO food were overblown, but this paper makes me rethink that. Since we know when GMO were introduced into the food chain, I suspect there will be more studies to support this hypothesis.

There are many more that I have come across.
