Law & Order style statism is violence used against the violent, and so is more visible. The Left prefers violence against the nonviolent, so mere threats usually suffice.

While I agree with you overall about this. I think the prison industrial complex has gotten out of hand. It's wrong that prisons lobby for bills and policies that keep people in prison longer and longer so that they get more money
