I was in a physically abusive 1st marriage. Thinking about explaining to my hypothetical children why I chose this abusive loser to be their dad was the push that made leave him. I didn't want my non-existent kids to sleep in fear or be pushed down the stairs & choked like I was.

Lost knowledge these days. Changing the question from 'would I like to bang that" to 'would I wan't that to be the mother/father of my children' can completely change relationship choices, and the quality of relationships.
