You gave Stefan an out by unnecessarily adding that he went wrong somewhere. He's correct that this is an appeal to popularity fallacy, and he could focus his response entirely on that, rather than address the point. I agree that you need to read Art of the Argument to improve.

That response is only correct if it's talking about a particular argument. The claim was that to have arrived at an irrelevant conclusion is going wrong, even if the irrelevant conclusion itself is filled with 100% true statements.
