Pilate famously asked Jesus ‘What is truth?’ Jesus gave him the right answer—-silence. Silence isn’t empty, it’s full of answers. Silence is the language of God. #truth

Pilate probably asked that almost mockingly. Jesus didn't need to answer, because he is the truth. The Logos was standing in front of him. It wasn't for Pilate to know the truth, for Jesus had to be handed over.
-
I don’t think Pilate asked that mockingly. He was truly perplexed that Jesus was brought before him; he pretty much said to the Pharisees ‘I see no crime or criminal here.’

Everything's "Not An Argument" to you, isn't it? Well, you're not a philosopher. You're just a preening would-be messiah who hates women and minorities because he had a row with his mom and wants everyone to think he's a misunderstood genius.
-
Not an argument.

Your "First Temptations of Christ" talk did an admirable job of examining Biblical truth in philosophical terms. Resolved: Jesus is history's foremost ethical philosopher.
-
*buzzer sounds* Try the classical Greeks and Enlightenment minds for true ethical philosophy.
-
Oh, I know. All thise Stoics and Epicureans walking around. And you can't throw a rock in downtown Toronto without hitting someone who can quote Locke verbatim.
-
Far more valuable and insightful comments from them than JC.
-
To you, maybe. The value of JC's to others is demonstrated in His significantly greater popularity and influence in the world.
-
To anyone concerned with ethical thought since their philosophies are at the core of modern democracies. Popularity is irrelevant.
-
To anyone concerned with utility, popularity is a great measure of an idea's merit.
-
No. Popularity of an idea has zero bearing on whether or not it is true.

Philosophy + Science = Freedom Truth is simply facts. Whether that be historical or scientific, you'll never be defeated through argument. This is why the "left" very often refuse to entertain objective arguments.

Also: "Do you pursue truth personally?" and "Why do you pursue truth?" were two questions that came up in an amazing tweet conversation recently. It was really cool.
-
Being honest & true to yourself in life is important. Helps dissuade Ego & Pride, Self Reflection helps massively but can be hard to take emotionally. Understanding comes from knowing as much Truth as possible but 2 sides 2 every story plus lots hidden in between like the truth.
-
Two sides. Yep. Only one truth.
-
I said in one of my comments actually 3 sides to every story, the version of truth to either side & perspective & somewhere in between the truth but good luck finding the truth.

Truth: something you find before it finds you, so it will hurt less.
-
Took me 14 years depressed to accept the truth of my new reality & life goes on. Truth can hurt & if you deliver enough truth to upset people the term, shoot or hurt the Messenger may be used more physically then liked. Bullet proof vest & life insurance I recommend.

Zzzzzzzzz

Stun me with your amazing Life then Mr zzzzzzz. Or astound me with your definition of Truth as well. I'm happy to pick anything you have to offer apart substantial or not...
-
I don’t mind, that’s how I feel about wedding talk, until they said I’m paying. True story and it hurt.
