        He has a fundamental viewpoint that it’s in everyone’s best interest to not make the other side outraged. He makes the same argument about why they shouldn’t impeach trump even if they find dirt on him

        I agree with you. There is utility in both sides agreeing not to destroy the social fabric but this is not one of those scenarios. The left has acted abhorrent the last few weeks and should in no way be rewarded for this.
