Because...lamb chops and beef roasts that you can share with the poor? Or do you find that offensive as a vegetarian? Actually there is a religious significance that you can look up. The sacrifice doesn’t have to be in public, but it often is in many Islamic countries.

I sincerely hope that it’s not being done in public in Western or other non-Muslim countries, because that’s really not appropriate in my view.
