Without an institution as socially useful as a space force, what the heck are the scions of rich liberal families going to do for a job? Only deplorables want to get hurt policing thousands of kms of desert to keep out illegal migrants and their gangs who kill people.

Because it is most likely, in my humble opinion, a prelude to something bigger and is most likely the part of Mr. President's 4D chess game. :) He has to be careful because certain previous presidents that tried to open up this vital topic, got shot or impeached.
