  Ultimately the state delivers far less than a society of free man could have reached by themselves. In addition state solutions to problems are typically worse than the problems, if you sum up everything. Working people are enslaved and others make their living on their backs.

  Well, sometimes heads of state can certainly make themselves & their close associates more comfortable. Founding Fathers meant to give Fed Govt certain limited responsibilities, then keep them out of our hair for the rest. Over 250 years Govt has expanded itself.
