Forgiveness must be earned by the offending party, not demanded with a sense of ‘time heals all wounds’ just let it go entitlement.

This is not biblical concept of forgiveness. In fact, true forgiveness CANNOT be earned. Reconciliation & trust on the other hand are entirely different matters.
