Technically in 1807 Parliament abolished the slave trade. Slavery was not abolished throughout the empire until 1834, though still 31 years ahead of the US

It's the profiting from the slave trade for over 200 years beforehand that kind of detracts from how impressive it is they were the first ones to abolish it, to be honest.

To be fair Stephan they never ACTUALLY got rid of slavery, they just repackaged it and gave it a new name. Today there isn't even free speech, how is that freedom?
