Not entirely true. Parents must create some artificial consequences for children's choices to teach them how the world works. Those consequences must be tailored to the child and the situation, and there's the art. No consequences in childhood gives tragically unprepared adults

i think the concept of "moral standards" is far too subjective ... cause and effect seems to be the best method ... the selfish and virtuous reasons tend to result in the same destination if thought throw long enough. i think Immanuel Kant's "Golden Rule" is an excellent example
