If you look into the facts of the hot coffee thing, it actually wasn't dumb at all.

To be fair, the coffee lady was elderly and unable to pull her sweats off when she spilled the coffee in a parked car. She had third degree burns.

Also McDonalds accused of keeping the coffee at higher than recommend temp so it will be sellable longer. (Very hot coffee tastes fresher)

You haven't read the hot coffee case eh! Not frivolous. Today I found out has brief video on it. She was passenger in a camaro w no cupholders. Sitting on floor level. Adding cream/sugar when cup spilled giving her 2nd/3rd degree burns. Sued 4 medical/lost work....

The "hot coffee" lawsuit was a valid one. The version many had heard growing up was the smear campaign McD's lawyers utilized at the time.

This is why we need serious Tort reform. I'm all for "loser pays". This alone will stop the frivolous and gold-digging lawsuits clogging up our judicial system.

Had she drank that coffee, it probably would have killed her. 3rd degree burns;mouth, esophagus, stomach. Read the case. Shows how McD and the media behave.

The swelling from the burn probably would have cut off her oxygen and an ET, along with TPN would have been required.
