Like anyone actually thought this would get released. No way. It’s direct competition with all other apps/Games released on iOS.
-
-
-
How is it in direct competition? It allows you to view/play your games on your mobile device. I can do the same thing with TeamViewer and Remote Desktop. Should those be taken off too?
-
It’s accessing a direct competitor’s platform. Why buy an app on the App Store when you can buy it on Steam and just play it through this app? Is that not the sole function of this app? Others let you acces your PC, what you do from there can vary.
-
The games offered on Steam are different from the games offered in the App Store. Sure, you might be able to get a Final Fantasy game on the App Store. But they're way different than the ones on Steam. They could just make Steam block certain games instead of the whole app.
-
Exactly. Until there's a Stardew Valley or Slime Rancher or Undertale app, Steam is where I'll go. Not to mention, the App Store & iTunes are already priced badly in a lot of cases, so I go to Google Play for them. This ought to be a sign for Apple to step up their game.

Come the fuck on, I literally just got an iPad partially to use this app.
-
Why particularly an ipad?
-
My brother didn't want his anymore, so I got a good deal for it
-
well if you got a good deal then you can just resell it and still make a profit :)
-
Pretty shitty thing to do to his brother then, you've basically used your relationship for money at that point
-
I mean getting the Ipad from his brother for a 'good deal' was also using the relationship for money lol. If the brother cares, just split the profit with him and no skin off anyone's back.
-
Yeah, you're qualifying it with splitting the profit, which isn't part of the original scenario, so not really relevant
-
Nah. you just split the profit if the brother finds out AND if the brother cares. That's all after what the last tweet was about lol

Wow greedy Apple, I always thought Apple was all about innovation. This clearly states when there is big money on the table that is NOT the case.
-
What innovation? Unless you mean marketing. Cause their products are 4+yrs behind competitors and their customer service is 40 years behind. Just check out the class action lawsuits they've had on every major release.

@toucharcade said@steam_games had managed to snuck in an update to make steam controller compatible with Apple TV! God! Apple just don’t give a shit about real gaming huh? -
Where are you seeing that specific snippet being posted as to the reason why?

http://toucharcade.com/2018/05/17/steam-link-app-hands-on-preview/ … Steam Link for iOS devices works so well it straight up feels like there's some kind of actual wizardry powering it all. Even more wild is that Valve snuck out an update to their Steam controller making it fully compatible with iOS devices and the
@AppleTV -
That sort of app-specific connectivity is totally allowed, it’s how Guitar Hero in iOS worked, along with a bunch of DJ apps that use Bluetooth accessories. The surprising part to me was they could do this via a firmware update on their end.

Have you seen this cited somewhere else or is this just your own theory?
