Over a dozen black residents we spoke with active in the community told Status Coup that a large number of these homes were owned by residents who wanted to repair them but didn't have $ to do so. They approached @PeteButtigieg admin to work with them, but got nowhere.pic.twitter.com/CACzRlHrQj

Residents tell us that instead of working with residents,
@PeteButtigieg's administration aggressively used code enforcement to fine the homeowners who couldn't afford the home repairs and then ultimately demolish the homes.pic.twitter.com/gyvLAREhGdShow this thread -
We also came across closed down plants/manufacturing yards in black and brown part of town that we then found out
@PeteButtigieg's redevelopment commission had paid business owners to leave South Bend (while giving tax abatements to other businesses to come to the downtown area)Show this thread

I knew his answer was going to come under scrutiny as I felt he was overstating his impact.

He wasn’t. This is nasty propaganda. A friend of mine is the administrator for the program in question, and he used it brilliantly. Don’t fall for this.

#Pete2020 poor people homes demolished -
These are lies. The 1,000 homes in 1,000 days resulted in 60% ABANDONED HOUSES being demolished and 40% houses being renovated with the help of the Buttigieg administration. What Status Coup didn't mention was this program was ASKED FOR by the Black community.

Oops. That's almost as good as Michael Bloomberg trying to take credit for the healthcare options in NY State. As mayor of NYC he had absolutely nothing to do with the laws and regulations that were put in place.

This is gross. They could have figured out a way to put in some low income housing in those vacant spots.
