And why? He was filming, he was successful, he had years to go. The heart is a mystery.

My beloved grandfather killed himself while my Grammie was cooking dinner. Had no health probs and always so positive. Best guess is a misfire in the brain that overrides perspective. So tragic to those left behind.
-
That's how depression gets you....in that one unguarded moment....where everything positive disappears and all your doubts and insecurities crush you....I am sorry your gramps passed....its a tough fight sometimes I dont know how I constantly continue to hang on

the most beautiful thing about him was that he was so unapologetically human.

I’m heartbroken that he’s no longer with us. He was one of few people that seemed like you could drop him anywhere in the world and he would be at home and get along with everyone.

I wonder if he knew just how many people really loved him.

As someone who has had an on-again-off-again battle with it, that's one of the many horrible things about suffering with depression. You don't know how many people actually love you and care for you because in our troubled and damaged minds, we don't believe anyone does.

So true. Stay in the light

Of all the responses I've seen to this tragic news today, yours by far has touched me the most and perhaps encompassed the gravity of just how much of an impact Bourdain made. Thank you for your words.
-
I felt the same. (And nice "gravity" reference, by the way.)

That he made you "feel more connected to the planet" is possibly one of the most beautiful tributes to another human being I've heard. If only he could have felt that extraordinary worth.

I couldn't agree more.

He had a prose and an outlook that was distinctly unique. Very sad news.

I feel exactly the same way. Watching his shows helped me to learn so much about the world.

Perfect sentiment about an unapologetically imperfect human. He made the world a little closer in his own way.

I watched Anthony Bourdain Show all time, he never seem like someone who would commit suicide. He brought world together with food. I will deeply miss him and his show; seem like I lost a close friend or family member.
-
Another one take his own life but why, the saddest part they leave people wondering and reminiscing.
