The author’s imply the inclusion of state-specific trends (& fixed effects, explicit controls) allow them to treat the roll out of state Naloxone laws as a “natural experiment,” i.e. the parallel trends assumption is met & confirmed by the graphs for each outcome. 1/2

But like you I don’t see these graphs as confirming much of anything. Correct me if I’m wrong, but my sense is leads of the Naloxone dummies would produce similar findings, i.e. the Naloxone law dummies r potentially endogenous due to simultaneity bias. 2/2
