I'm trying to understand what precisely the "paradox" is here. Is it that Arkansans are becoming more progressive on some issues, but also more likely to vote Republican (both for state and national offices)?

There are some issues with the poll, especially the jump on many issues from 2017 to 2018. In the sample, 47% had a college degree, but only 22% of Arkansans do. In the 2017 poll, 35% had college degrees. So still not representative, but that explains 2018 jump
