    By the way, as of macOS 10.15b5, it is very easy for app to bypass user folder / screen capture / keyboard input protection restrictions. Ugh.

    Top answer is wrong: Windows 9x has no support for async file I/O. Other answers are closer to the truth (installers often were 16-bit and limit system to cooperative multitasking).
