I don't understand this mindset. Why do you see creators as representative of your entire site as opposed to just representatives of themselves? You can't police people for being people if you want an open platform like you say you do. It's in the site's name, for Christ's sakes.

They don't want to be an open platform, they want people to watch their videos. This isn't LiveLeak. They have to pay lip service to keeping toxic content off the platform or risk scaring away viewers and investors.

Really? Because I don't remember having to sign an NDA or any contracts with YouTube to curate my content to their liking before making an account. If YouTube wants to curate the content on their platform so draconically, then they can't have a user upload feature at all.

You had to agree to the ToS in order to open an account. That's a contract. Within that contract were a set of rules that you agreed to adhere to in order to continue having access to the platform.

YouTube regularly and with great gusto punishes people who aren't breaking the terms of service, and doesn't punish people who do (see Logan Paul and Daddy o Five) until the media backlash becomes so unignorable that they do the bare minimum to squeak by with their pants still on

Yep, exactly why they're looking into their harassment policies. People are not impressed, and it's not because it's "meant to be an open platform", it's because YouTube has allowed harassment to occur. Otherwise they'd be undoing any policies with restriction on site content.

Look man. The cartoon bird already told his viewers that he was making a video about it. He doesn’t have to time to look at things like facts. He needs to reinforce what they already believe. Facts will just get in the way of that.

I'm a girl, actually. So who really needs to do basic fact checking here?

Ehhh ignoring the comment in your bio.. just because someone else hasn't done basic fact checking doesn't reflect at all on your fact checking. The two are mutually exclusive. It shouldn't be about catching others out, you just need to be able to stand over your own work

Which clearly you can't do or you'd have responded with an actual point instead of "Hey you didn't check if I'm male or female before saying 'he'"pic.twitter.com/yWlI2i8izh
