We democratically elect our representatives. If you're going to be pedantic about accuracy, then it's a democratic republic, and you're just as wrong as she is.

Sorry. Look 2 my earlier rejoinder. There's a dramatic & clearly defined difference. Representatives don't interpret constitutional law or ultimately decide on individual rights. In pure democracy no constitution or charter as every issue would be resolved my majority vote alone.
-
Why not a majority vote that certain things require things other than majority votes? What about a majority vote to adopt a constitution? "Pure democracy" is academic naval gazing.
-
What about a 250 year old settled constitution with coequal branches of government that are separate but equal with the judiciary the most powerful as it decides the constitutionality of activity of the other branches and its legislation ?
-
What about it? That document is what makes us a democratic republic... The fact that we decided that it's a great way to dis-empower the tyranny of the majority doesn't magically make the US not a democratic republic.
-
I suggest you go back and look at the framers intent, language, and all of the extensive litgation that has evolved over these few hundred years over the clear difference between and how they intersect.
-
... To what end? To find out that they really are different things, and a blend of the two can't be accurately described by using one term or the other? Because that's my assertion.
-
Look. If you are not interested in seeing the constitutional and legislative intent or the case law the last 200 years what can I say.

Is he gonna roll over at the Convention again like last time?

Hopefully he will be retired and living in his new 600k lake front cabin that sits in the middle of a Native land claims.

America is depressing. If Corbyn win, I'll dream for the first time ever of living in Britain.

".... & to the Republic for which is stands" Even tho I said this 100s of times as a kid, I still mistakenly say US/Democracy. Altho the Republic part is prob what has saved us so far. It's seem we're more of a.... what it is... rule by rich - plutocracy.https://www.diffen.com/difference/Democracy_vs_Republic …

No where in the constitution will one find the word democracy.
-
How can we fix this thing?? The US is in a mess.
-
Millenials have to decide they are willing to fight and sacrifice and go about it or its largely done.
-
Then I think we’re fucked.
-
Each generation has to decide where they wish to go and how.

I thought my generation was on track with Peace and Love but too many sold out to the very powers our music warned us about. I stayed on track but ended up waiting on the sell-outs for tips and still feeling like I'm better off.
