Parkland families know that timely communications during firearm violence in schools is key. Previously unreleased records show that lapses in communication and lines of authority hampered medical treatment during last year's tragedy in Uvalde:

Last week, a six-year-old shot his teacher and left her with life-threatening injuries. Tragedies like these are the reason why we advocate for safe firearm storage, which saves lives. Firearm violence in schools must never be normalized.

When mental health struggles, violence and access to firearms are all rising amongst youth, we have an urgent responsibility to invest as much as we can into our kids' mental health and preventing potentially dangerous individuals from acquiring weapons.
