Bloomberg trying to spin a #ProjectFear story on the lack of cheap EU migrants, which has led to hospitality bosses having to take better care of existing local workers and invest in their longterm career development. How awful 🤦🏼‍♀️ #StandUp4Brexithttps://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-12-22/cornwall-pub-hand-shortage-shows-the-future-of-work-after-brexit …

Well the guy in the photo is smiling so he can't be that worried about it. I went to college to do c&g in Hotel Reception and hospitality in early 70s. There were lots of jobs all over the country for trained staff. Using cheap labour has destroyed this. Time to train our Brits.

It just exposes the exploitative forces behind Continuity Remain - sod local workers - just use low-paid migrants to keep wages low.

Your bio states “social progressive” but clearly not progressive enough to accept that the days of cheap imported labour are over and that’s a good thing for society & wage growth.

It is amazing that Labour has not embraced this and owned it. More training and education for British youth, opportunities in London for all and rising wages for all the poorer... JC hates the EU and would probably love to support this, so who is stopping him?

They need to recruit & train local people, then pay them a reasonable wage, since they have more than enough customers to cover the cost! FFS.

Absolute nonsense. I live in Truro and this pub is a pile it high sell it cheap pub for locals. Not a tourist in sight. Local Cornish businesses have operated for years by paying peanuts. Guess the real world is catching up.

My family come from Cornwall. I am 67 - this was happening when I was a girl - it is not new. No one wants a job for the summer - but one all year. It's why so many of our young leave the county.
