This has been my most popular tweet, ever. So much good life advice for someone who’s just starting out. So little pessimism!

The most popular school-specific advice has been: 1. Go to every class, even when you don’t feel like it. 2. Read your syllabus. 3. Professors want you to succeed, talk to them, ask questions, go to their office hours. 4. Do all the readings. 5. Prepare and plan.

Oddly enough, it’s #1 that’s the most daunting, since I’m a single mom of a kid with special needs. BUT. It’ll all work out the way it’s supposed to, and I know this.

If I could go back 21 years and tell 18-year-old me anything that 18-year-old me would have believed, it’s that it’s all gonna be okay. If you’re going through hell, and you will, keep going.

One thing that keeps popping up is to treat school like an 8-5 job, and I LOVE this. I’ve had several 8-5 jobs, and the thought of devoting that time to class/study/planning is wonderful advice. Really enjoying getting ratio’d here!

I owe it to the woman I was 4 years ago to follow the dream I developed. If you are lucky enough to have a dream, do every single little thing you can to follow it. The world needs people like us. Grateful for the outpouring of positivity. DMs are still open.
