I do think 1 is important. The number of non-academics with atrocious views of academic views is horrifying. Especially philosophy. Philosophers should be publicly bullying people like deGrasse Tyson, Yudkowsky, mocking their fedora tipping ignorant views for what they are.

I did say specifically Pinker on history specifically, not statistics. I think the article does at least demonstrates that Pinker is clueless when it comes to history, which is rather important for what he is trying to do. The statistical arguments on both ends are fishy
