My theory on Tommy Wiseau: he suffers from brain damage. Literally. From traumatic injury or a stroke. That's why his accent is so hard to place: his voice has two things going on. It's not just that he has an accent. He's slurring his words on top of it.

If I'm right, this explains a lot about the way THE ROOM turned out, and in particular why the plot, dialogue, and character behavior are so baffling. It wasn't written by a bad writer; it was written by a guy with a brain injury.
