I had a really bad feeling about the Hartsfield-Jackson blackout. https://www.thedailybeast.com/hartsfieldjackson-atlanta-airport-blackout-sends-message-to-terrorists-america-is-unprepared?via=twitter_page …

I live about five miles away and pretty much immediately thought "Welp, I sure hope this isn't cover for sneaking a nuke in or spreading smallpox or something."
-
i haven't studied the event in that much detail but i don't think there's enough data unless there's another stressor factor in the event. like major construction or something that would affect people flows

Everyone at the airport at 1 pm was stuck in place for five hours. Every plane that landed was stuck on the tarmac, full of passengers, for at least that long. Nobody knew what was going on, nobody was allowed to leave. It's appalling.

i'm strongly sceptical of that; an adversary who had access to the airport's switchgear could have done far worse things with that access (like smuggle contraband into the secured zone), and anyone who wants to just kill power can stand outside a substation and shoot rifles at it

(also the "proof of concept" was https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metcalf_sniper_attack … and it happened in 2013)
