In 2015, male victimization was unusually low, so they temporarily lost the lead in the victimhood olympics. https://www.bjs.gov/index.cfm?ty=dctp&tid=9 …

I assume you mean p. 9 of https://www.bjs.gov/content/pub/pdf/cv15.pdf …, which is definitely extremely weird. Methods changed?

I don't believe that split in serious violent victimization at *all*. Comparehttps://ucr.fbi.gov/crime-in-the-u.s/2015/crime-in-the-u.s.-2015/tables/expanded_homicide_data_table_1_murder_victims_by_race_ethnicity_and_sex_2015.xls …

You are comparing homicide rates -- e.g. 10K -- to "violence" which includes things like rape and assault, and is 50x more prevalent

So there is no contradiction here. And of course measuring overall "victimization" of violence more difficult than counting dead bodies.

But TBF, for fear of violence, you should look at more than just the homicide and must include rape/assault, which is why I used this study

However I'm not gonna die on this hill. Ranking groups by their victimization status has limited usefulness and is often toxic.

Problems with rape/sexual assault stats are manifold and tend to sharply understate male victimization rates.
