To the writer's credit, specific examples and problems get examined later in the article. But never the math.
'News' reports seem to never run or show the actual numbers for false positives & negatives given reasonable population assumptions.
Which basically turns those news reports into chewed up and regurgitated press releases, which are of course hyped up to the gills.
The funny thing is that later in the article the writer shows concretely that the system is bullshit and a failure.
But there's that inability to connect abstraction with specifics.
I wonder if part of it is writers not wanting to antagonize places like Google by calling them on 'this FP rate makes it useless'.
The writer clearly shows that it's not ready at all and raises big concerns, but they never come out and outright say 'this is bad'.
First third is solid SJW litany. Like a talisman.
