NYT: "The American gun lobby's refusal to accept even mild controls has made the US a favorite of terrorists who want to use guns." AYFKM 1/

But actually I'd rather point at the weird framing NYT (and the general agitprop push today) is using: The "gun lobby" isn't aliens. 5/
-
NRA is as democratically legitimate as ACLU, Planned Parenthood, or any other lobbying group that's mostly funded by citizens. More so. 6/
-
Furthermore, they neither pass laws nor sit on judge's benches. If you think a $5k donation is some kind of sinister mind control... 7/
-
These agitprop pushes are planned out years in advance and bolted onto whatever atrocity happens to spike in the news. That's normal. 8/
-
But they're getting sloppier about fitting the campaign to the facts. This horrible crime has zero to with NRA, zero to do with AR-15s. 9/

In conclusion:
#BTFSTTG and happy fucking Thursday. 10/10 -

Fun fact, US military personnel on home military bases were and are disarmed. Only MPs allowed to carry until very recently
-
/2 It used to be a military-wide order. Since January this year, base commanders can decide to allow CCW or not.
-
Yeah, but I assume army personnel would have enhanced access to firearms in general compared to...anyone else ever.
-
Only when deployed. The guns are typically kept in a central armory, usually one fortified building that has a check-out window.
-
Interesting, I didn't know that.
-
Yep. Central armory is for keeping track of the machine guns etc.Existed before no carry on base policy and goes back to old forts
-
The no carry policy itself was instituted to stop guys "going postal" and, well, the Nidal Hassans of the world.
