Comice pears are in season. They are the best fruit--notes of pear, green apple, vanilla, custard. Go buy some, ripen carefully, chill.

@blue_traveler They're ripe when they yield to gentle pressure at the stem. They shouldn't be hard like *shudder* a d'Anjou. -
@blue_traveler They also get much more fragrant when they ripen. At correct ripeness you almost have to eat them over the sink.
