@sarahdoingthing I think network proprioception is more akin to feeling a vehicle while driving it? @maradydd
@St_Rev she's talking about perceiving a literal computer network in that essay, similar phenomenon though. driving is anti-ritual.
@St_Rev there isn't enough to ordinary driving to perceive interestingly - cognitive surplus, not flow state
@St_Rev I wonder if there's something about complete cognitive absorption that had made math such a powerful ritual community at times
@sarahdoingthing Numerology is a wonderland of pareidolia. Geometry has tendencies in that direction.
@sarahdoingthing There's very little overlap between mathematical ecstatics of that sort and working mathematicians, though.
@St_Rev I don't mean "ecstatics" but the ordinary participation in the domain - also doubt religious ecstasy motivates church ladies ;)
@sarahdoingthing I don't think math is a powerful ritual community in the sense of church ladies.
@sarahdoingthing Driving is *sometimes* associated with numinous states in song and story, but rarely in practice. @maradydd
@St_Rev @sarahdoingthing Or, at least for me, anyway, and more like car than bike.
